Fundamentals of Early Education
Parents will join with Our School teachers to explore relevant activities and topics that challenge children to explore and integrate their interests, acquire knowledge, and build new skills, gaining in the process self-confidence, pride in growth, and learning to love learning.
Discussion topics and impromptu conversations include:
What is developmentally appropriate play?
How do I support building my toddler’s relationships with other children?
How does attachment influence the development of my child’s social competence, thinking and reasoning skills?
What materials and environments nurture my toddler’s curiosity?
Discipline: What particular approaches work?
Exploring aggression and bullying in toddlers.
Technology and the toddler.
Children are active participants in their learning with intentional observation and support from teachers.
A wealth and variety of materials allow children to learn through observation and experimentation.
Social Emotional Growth
A child’s development is nurtured through a foundation of attachment theory as well as relationships, family and parental involvement.
The expansive outdoor classroom includes a changing playground designed to challenge physical development, and nearby open spaces provide regular exploration.
Integration of Subject Matter
Emerging literacy, scientific creativity, and mathematical curiosity are integrated daily.
Children complete their preschool education prepared to transition to kindergarten and beyond, maintaining their creativity, curiosity, and ability to investigate with a strong social foundation.
